£100 bonus for musical student, Chris

Posted: 5 November 2010

A SOUTHAMPTON student received an extra bonus when he graduated this week, in the form of a £100 prize from local company, PSP.

Chris Chilcott graduated from Southampton Solent University on Tuesday with a BA Hons in Popular Music and Record Production, with First Class Honours.

But he also picked up another envelope, containing a £100 prize from Hampshire company, PSP.

The firm sponsored the ‘PSP Music Prize 2010’, which is awarded to students who excel in their studies.

The boat transportation and worldwide logistics company sponsors the prize because its Managing Director, Frank Dixie, is passionate about music.

The shipping boss is the frontman for 11-piece funk and soul band, Harry Hammersmith and the Flyovers.

Chris Chilcott’s course tutor, Toni Diaz, said:

“Chris has consistently achieved a standard of work beyond what is expected, and I would have no hesitation in using his skills in the professional music environment.

“We at Solent are delighted that he has decided to continue studying for a master’s degree in music, and we have no doubt that he will achieve success in his career. We’re very grateful to PSP for supporting achievement in music with the PSP Music Prize.”
