Important mission for PSP
Posted: 14 February 2011
WORLDWIDE boat transportation firm, PSP, has been handed an important mission as it is transporting two boats to Australia for competitors taking part in The Woodvale Indian Ocean Race.
PSP, sponsor of the PSP Southampton Boat Show, has been tasked with ensuring the two ocean rowing boats get from Southampton to Australia in mint condition by April 17.
The boats, which are worth between £20-100k each will be used by two British teams taking part in the treacherous race from the west coast of Australia to Mauritius.
The ocean duel will see the teams battle it out for victory on open water. Along the way they will encounter sharks, whales and dangerous stretches of sea.
Kate Battes, part of the Woodvale team which organises the race, said that the boats will have to reach Australia in perfect condition in order for them to be safe for competitors to use.
She added:
“The competitors will be fighting against the elements as they row 3,100 nautical miles in these boats so it is vital they arrive the way they left. We have chosen PSP to take on this important mission because we are confident its team will get them there safely and on time.”
PSP loaded the two ocean rowing boats onto a vessel in Southampton on Wednesday (February 9) and they will reach Geraldton Port before April 17.
Last year PSP transported a fleet of 19 boats taking part in The Woodvale Challenge Atlantic Rowing Race from the Caribbean to the UK. The shipment, worth over £1m, was returned in mint condition.
