PSP links to Korea

Posted: 3 June 2009

Fast-growing Segensworth-based company, PSP, is out to pick up business in Korea this week as it takes part in the Korean Boat Show. One of only a handful of British companies willing to make the trip, the title sponsor of the PSP Southampton Boat Show is eager to capitalise on its strong marine links and its well-established relationship with the Far East.

PSP’s Marine Operator, Alex Dixie, said:

“What people don’t realise is that even in this recession, this is a nation of consumers with a passion for the boating industry and the lifestyle that accompanies it. A total of 29 marinas are planned to be completed over the next 11 years, with a berth capacity of over 6,100. Add that to the current total of 1,500 boats and that is a huge market.”

Already a global concern, with offices world-wide, PSP sees this show as a great opportunity to do business with this forward-looking economy. Despite the marine sector being affected by the economic slowdown, the Korean Government recently pledged to pump $10m into the marine industry to encourage rapid growth. PSP is working hard to grow the part of its business that ships boats around the globe and has been quick to spot the advantage of working with the Korean market.

A preferred logistics supplier to household names such as Clipper, ISAF and Tall Ships International, PSP’s knowledge of the marine industry will stand it in good stead with the market in Korea. Its excellent knowledge and experience in the marine world means that this is an obvious place to expand business.

Adds Mr Dixie:

“We know what we are doing and can really take the hassle out of shipping vessels, providing cradles, handling customs clearance, marine insurance and skippered deliveries. We look forward to expanding our business here.”
