Unique partnership for Hampshire firms
Posted: 14 October 2009
A HAMPSHIRE firm has taken the unique step of sponsoring a local restaurant. PSP, which is also title sponsor of the PSP Southampton Boat Show, is sponsoring upmarket bar and restaurant, Banana Wharf.
The Segensworth-based freight forwarding company has its logo on all parasols at Banana Wharf in Port Hamble and waiters and waitresses have PSP’s logo on their uniforms. Staff at Banana Wharf’s Southampton branch are also wearing the PSP shirts. As Banana Wharf is part of the Delicious Dining, a group of affiliated restaurants, the firm also has posters up in Banana Wharf, Dockgate 4 and Ennios.
The partnership came about after Steve Hughes, Director of the Delicious Dining Group, mentioned that he would be replacing his current parasols. Frank Dixie, Managing Director of PSP, said he would sponsor them in return for having his company branding on the parasols and staff uniform.
He said:
“Port Hamble is a bustling marina in the heart of the boating fraternity, a perfect location for PSP to be seen and our marine office is based at Hamble Point Marina, which is also nearby. It made perfect sense for us to sponsor Banana Wharf in order to further cement our affiliation with boating and world-wide boat transport.”
Steve Hughes added:
“It’s great for us to have a local sponsor, particularly one affiliated with the boating industry as we are so close to the water here. Normally the uniforms and parasols in bars and restaurants are sponsored by multinational beverage companies so it is nice to have a sponsor that has a worldwide service but is also based locally.”
