PSP In The Thick Of The Clipper Action With Martin On Board
Aug 2011

SPONSOR of the PSP Southampton Boat Show, PSP, has selected Hampshire sailor Martin Woodcock as its brand ambassador for the Clipper 11-12 Round The World Yacht Race.

Martin, a project manager from Fleet, will represent PSP across the globe, meeting the boat transportation firm’s alliance members in countries such as Australia and China. He will also bring the spirit of the race to life by blogging about his adventures through PSP’s website at

The 50-year-old father of two will be one of 500 ordinary men and women facing the challenge of a lifetime as he battles 40,000 miles of ocean racing. During the 12-month race he will cross the Atlantic, Southern, Indian and Pacific Oceans and says he is looking forward to using his role as PSP’s brand ambassador to bring the excitement of the challenge to life.

He said:

“This really is a once in a lifetime opportunity and I want to make the very most of it. Being PSP’s ambassador will add another dimension to the challenge and allow me to convey through words, photos and videos on PSP’s website and social media channels, the highs and lows of the race. This really is an exciting aspect and I’m hoping my blogs will capture the imaginations of those who have never thought about doing something like this before.

“If I can inspire people to get out there and try sailing as a result of my words I’ll be a happy man!”

Martin, whose passion for sailing was ignited by going on flotilla holidays around a decade ago, will be part of the crew on New York. Having clocked up thousands of nautical miles on the water, his experience will stand him in good stead for the race and he has been named as one of the watch leaders for the New York crew.

Frank Dixie, Managing Director of PSP, said:

“As the official logistics partner for the Clipper 11-12 Round the World Yacht Race we are already heavily involved in the event. However, we wanted to appoint an ambassador so that they could bring to life what it’s like to actually take part as a crew member and share it with our customers, suppliers and agents across the world.

“We are delighted to have Martin on board and representing PSP. As a successful project manager, keen sailor and family man, he is the perfect ambassador for our business and shares many of our values.

“Our agents and members of our worldwide boat transportation alliance will be greeting him with open arms at the various stopovers and we know they will look forward to hearing about his adventures on the Clipper yacht.”

Frank Dixie, along with other members of staff from PSP’s headquarters in Hampshire, plan to meet Martin at the China stopover.
