WORLDWIDE logistics and freight forwarding firm, PSP, is helping Walcon Marine to keep its latest project afloat in the Middle East.

The logistics firm, also sponsor of the PSP Southampton Boat Show, has been transporting equipment from the UK to Dubai as Walcon Marine builds a floating platform and bridge at the luxurious Jebel Ali Hotel.

The marina construction and installation company is creating a structure that will allow guests to get from the quayside to the hotel’s floating restaurant and called upon the expertise of PSP to get its equipment to the city.

PSP transported a 6,000kg, 40ft container by sea from the UK to Dubai, as well as a 5,000kg, 20ft container. PSP has also transported a case of equipment by airfreight for the prestigious project.

Among the important cargo were items such as hardwood decking, bolts, ladders, panels and duct covers.

Clive Kemp, Walcon Marine’s Commercial Director, said:

“This project is incredibly important to us so it is vital that we have the support of an experienced logistics firm to ensure the materials get to the site safely and on time. Had there been any delays in the delivery of the equipment it would have had huge knock-on effects to the project.

“PSP, which we have been using for many years to ship our pontoon equipment across the world, worked quickly and efficiently to ensure the hassle of transportation was taken out of our hands. We are very grateful for the great job the team has done.”

The two companies will be reunited in June as they both exhibit at Seawork 2011. PSP can be found at stand B85 and Walcon Marine at stand A57.
