PSP has been announced as the official logistics partner for the Global Ocean Race 2014-15.
The worldwide logistics firm will be responsible for ensuring all race equipment, including replacement parts for the boats and dehydrated food, reach the four stopovers during the nine-month race.
The announcement was made at the Tullett Prebon London Boat Show, where the starting point for the next Global Ocean Race was also unveiled. The 31,000 mile race will start from the PSP Southampton Boat Show in September 2014 and will finish at Gunwharf Quays in Portsmouth in June 2015.
Frank Dixie, managing director of PSP, also used the Tullett Prebon London Boat Show to announce a 10 per cent increase in turnover within PSP’s marine division. The rise was attributed to the fact the company is now moving more boats per loading and it is also moving bigger and heavier loads
Frank Dixie said:
“This latest win has proven that it is ever upwards for PSP. Not only have we started 2013 with a 10 per cent increase in turnover for our marine division but we’ve also been selected as the official logistics partner for this incredible race.”
Josh Hall, race organiser, added:
“The stopovers for this race will be short so we need a logistics partner that we can rely on for speed, accuracy and efficiency. That’s why we chose PSP, which has a proven track record in delivering impeccable logistics for race teams across the globe.”
As official logistics partner PSP, title sponsor of the PSP Southampton Boat Show, will also be responsible for any emergency logistics throughout the race, such as the urgent delivery of specialist boat parts.
Frank Dixie commented:
“For these competitors, our ability to get a piece of equipment to them anywhere in the world, at the drop of a hat, could be the difference between them winning or losing.”
PSP’s involvement in the Global Ocean Race 2014-15 highlights its growing dominance in the race logistics market. It has twice consecutively been official logistics partner for the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race and has also provided logistics support and consultancy for the likes of ISAF, America’s Cup and Etchells.
