Job Title - Finance Assitant 

Salary - £20,000 - £22,000 depending on your experience

Benefits - Company Private Health Care & Pension

Hours - 9am - 5:30pm (1 hour lunch) Monday - Friday 

Premier Shipping & Packing Ltd (PSP Logistics) is a freight forwarder and export packing company based in Segensworth, Fareham, with a turnover of over £7million.  We ship a variety of cargo on behalf of our clients to destinations all over the world by sea and air.  We also manufacture wooden cases in our Fareham facility to protect cargo in transit.

PSP is an ambitious and exciting company working with clients across many sectors to provide full logistical support.  A rare opportunity has arisen for an organised and professional Finance Assistant to join our accounts team to work closely with the Finance Manager.  They will provide accurate and timely support to the purchase and sales ledger function, helping to ensure that the accounts department is managed efficiently and professionally.   

The successful applicant will be confident speaking to customers by phone and managing credit control.  It is essential that the applicant is experienced in using Sage 50 and Excel.  We will provide training for our in-house freight management software.  Although it would be beneficial to have AAT qualification it is not essential.  

Responsibilities

  • Posting customer receipts via internet banking or cheques using sage
  •  
  • Reconciling supplier statements regularly, requesting copies when required to
  •  
  • Raising payments to suppliers accurately and promptly
  •  
  • Resolving supplier queries
  •  
  • Sending out customer statements at month end
  •  
  • Credit checking customers
  •  
  • Credit control via email and telephone
  •  
  • Resolving customer queries to ensure the invoices are paid to us on time
  • Filing and general admin duties

Skills and Knowledge 

  • Understanding of accounting processes and procedures
  •  
  • AAT qualification or equivalent not essential but would be beneficial
  •  
  • To be able to use Microsoft Excel and Sage Line 50 to an intermediate standard
  •  
  • Good communication skills
  •  
  • To be organised and able to work as part of a team and also individually
  •  
  • Good problem solving ability
  •  
  • Ability to analyse variances
  •  
  • Good Maths and English
